Attention Sponsors: Past, Present and Future: Access Information News Now Provides Verified Quarterly Audience Insight Reports via LinkedIn Matched Audiences

TL;DR: After nearly two decades across our sibling publications Top Tech Tidbits and Access Information News of trying to answer one recurring Sponsor question (who, exactly, reads Access Information News each week?), we finally have an independent, third-party answer. On May 15, 2026, we uploaded a hashed copy of our subscriber list to LinkedIn Matched Audiences. LinkedIn matched 38,123 of approximately 44,851 subscribers against active member profiles, an 85% match rate, well above LinkedIn’s published 30-60% B2B baseline. The full demographic breakdown lives at https://accessinformationnews.com/audience/, and we’ll regenerate the report every 3 months going forward.

Engineering Trust

For nearly two decades, across both Top Tech Tidbits (founded in 2004) and its sibling publication Access Information News (spun off from Top Tech Tidbits in November 2022, when TTT hit its character limit for international compliance), there has been one recurring question I have been trying to answer for Sponsors and readers alike: “Aaron, I need to know who the Access Information News audience is. I need to know who I’m reaching each week. I believe your subscriber numbers are real, but I need a better understanding of who those readers are.”

Hundreds of times I’ve heard this statement. Nearly twenty years I have struggled with this. Nearly twenty years that end today. Or, more specifically, that ended on May 15, 2026. But let’s back up just a little bit first and talk about why this was such a difficult request to satisfy.

We cannot, obviously, share the actual email list with anyone, Sponsor or otherwise. That would break numerous privacy laws. We could try to “redact” the data to make it personally unidentifiable while still giving slight “hints” as to what a particular contact might do, career-wise. Maybe they have a single entry in the “Title” or “Company” category. But most readers don’t. Most readers give us just their email address. That’s it. No first name. No last name. Just an email address. Now I, personally, know the composition of this list well, as I’ve been involved with Access Information News since it spun off from Top Tech Tidbits in November 2022, and with Top Tech Tidbits itself since 2004, when it was founded by Dean Martineau. We never before had a legal way to share that information with you. Now we do.

A Shout Out To Claudia

I have no problem whatsoever acknowledging that this incredible solution was surfaced during a million-token Claude Code research session that I initiated specifically to crack this very problem, a deep-dive into legitimate publisher best practices across the industry. Here’s how the insight was surfaced.

At some point in the conversation I made some type of snide remark to Claudia (yes, I call her Claudia) along the lines of, “yeah, great idea Claudia, but even if I created those pretty bar charts (for Sponsors) what possible reason would they have to BELIEVE them?” And I said it kind of like a challenge, by including emoji representative of sarcastic challenge, like πŸ₯Š and 🀯. It was like I was saying, “Riddle me that Claudia.”

What I really thought is that she did not understand the concept of “trust,” as trust was the deciding factor in delivering that information, not a lack of graphic design. And while that kind of sarcasm was just me being human, Claudia recognized the challenge, accepted it, and together we came up with the following solution. For which I am sincerely grateful. And I believe both readers and Sponsors alike will be as well.

What Is LinkedIn Matched Audiences?

LinkedIn Matched Audiences is a free, privacy-preserving tool inside LinkedIn Campaign Manager (LinkedIn’s advertising platform) that allows you to upload your list of contacts and have them matched (by hashed email address, never the cleartext address itself) to current LinkedIn members. The intended purpose of the tool is to help advertisers match their own audience to LinkedIn members so they can advertise to them on LinkedIn. The resulting data never shows who any specific subscriber actually is, but crucially, it does show you what they do, where they do it, and what role they do it in, if there is a match for them on LinkedIn.

Where The Access Information News Audience Fits In

Herein lies the rub. The average match rate for LinkedIn Matched Audiences is anywhere from 30-60%. In other words, LinkedIn says that most world-class email lists will only return a 30-60% match rate. Still very useful, but guess how many contacts LinkedIn matched to the Access Information News email list of approximately 44,851 subscribers on May 15, 2026?

πŸ‘‰ 85%

Just think about that for a second. That’s 38,123 readers. All with VERIFIED, active, LinkedIn presences. That means that only 6,728 Access Information News subscribers have an email address that isn’t currently linked to a LinkedIn member profile. This makes those readers no less real, it just means that the email address they used to subscribe to Access Information News isn’t the one currently attached to their LinkedIn account.

And those 38,123 verified readers? Let’s not forget who they are: blind, low-vision, deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, neurodivergent, and/or otherwise disabled readers, along with the access information companies, educators, and caregivers who serve and support them.

These numbers do two things that were never possible before:

  1. They independently VERIFY our subscriber count numbers outside of the screenshots that we already provide via the website at: https://accessinformationnews.com/about/#subscriber-count-screen-shots. It is my sincerest hope that all Sponsors can now rest assured that they are actually reaching 44,000+ readers each week.
  2. They give a very detailed, granular breakdown of 85% of the Access Information News audience. And this is no one-time deal. It’s permanent. We will now regenerate these reports every 3 months so that Sponsors can also begin to view a historical perspective of the audience over time. These reports were generated on May 15, 2026. The next reports will be generated on August 15, 2026, and every quarter thereafter going forward.

What’s In The Report?

What exactly will you see in each report? Top job functions, seniority distribution, top job titles, top industries, company size distribution, years of professional experience, top cities, top employing companies, top skills, company growth-rate distribution, top general content interests, and top product interests, twelve full demographic panels, each backed by the full long-tail data table behind it.

For context: Access Information News posts a 12-month rolling 47% open rate and 34% click rate. The all-industry email-marketing averages? 16.22% open rate and 7.17% click rate. That’s roughly a 2.9Γ— multiplier on opens and a 4.7Γ— multiplier on clicks. Sponsors haven’t been imagining the engagement.

Disclaimer: Worth restating, since this is a Sponsor-facing announcement. Sponsors of Access Information News buy advertising placements. Sponsors do not and cannot buy editorial coverage. The editorial voting panel that decides what runs each week is completely independent of the commercial relationship, by design, and without exception.

Access Information News Sponsorship now also includes membership in the PWD Media Distribution Co-op, giving you and your marketing team the ability to distribute your messaging across 42+ partner channels reaching 189,000+ BLV/PWD readers per post. The new Audience Insights page tells you WHO Access Information News reaches each Monday, the PWD MDC extends that reach even further into the broader BLV/PWD ecosystem.

Are The Reports Accessible?

Each report is WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessible from end to end, which should be no surprise, given the audience they’ve been built for. The underlying Access Information News subscriber list runs opt-in standards across four jurisdictions simultaneously: CAN-SPAM (United States), CASL (Canada), GDPR (European Union), and PECR (United Kingdom). The strictest of the four is applied globally.

But Wait, There’s More

And finally, the best news of all? We’ve done this for all 3 publications. Top Tech Tidbits, Access Information News and AI-Weekly. Links below for your review. You will also find this new page in the main menu of each website under “Audience Insights”.

If you’ve ever wondered who actually reads these newsletters, we finally have answers for you.

It is my sincerest hope that this additional ongoing information will help us to bridge the “trust” gap once and for all.

The results of these reports were in no way surprising to me, but I suspect that they will be for many other readers out there.

The facts are in. At long last the truth comes to light.
